LEO  K9  Tactical  Building  Search

      &  Small  Team  Integration

Description

This 3 day, intensive, reality-based training course is designed to bridge the gap between traditional K9 search work and modern tactical responses. Teams will move past basic “find and bite” drills into high-fidelity, scenario-driven building clearances preparing the K9 team to work seamlessly alongside patrol, specialty units, and SWAT assets.

Objectives

  • Principles of CQB/Building Searches for K9 handlers: Introduction to Close Quarters Battle and fundamentals of tactical building searches.

  • Tactical Thresholds: Clear corners and fatal funnels using modern, low-profile techniques.

  • Suspect Discrimination: Ensure pinpoint alerts and engagements on barricaded subjects while ignoring environmental distractions.

  • Officer Survival: Handler positioning, gunfire conditioning, and tactical integration of the K-9 team with a tactical team.

  • Mitigating the "Fatal Funnel": Master tactical thresholds, delayed entries, and directional sends to clear danger zones before human officers step through.

  • Weapon Handling & Line Management: Practical drills for handlers to maintain muzzle discipline and weapon retention while managing a working K9 on- or off-line.

  • Integrated K9/SBT (De-escalation & Tactics): Learn to seamlessly integrate the K9 team into Small Team Tactics, ensuring the dog is an asset, not a liability, during stack movements.
