Pistol Mounted Optics - instructor
Description
This intensive 24-hour (two-and-a-half-day) Instructor-Level course is designed to equip firearms instructors with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to effectively train Law Enforcement Officers in the use of Pistol Mounted Optics (PMO). Participants will explore the benefits and limitations of PMOs, learn to diagnose and address optic malfunctions, and build confidence through structured, hands-on application. The course employs objective-driven training methodologies to maximize performance and proficiency with PMO-equipped firearms.
Hours:
Day 1: 10 hours from 1000-2000 (to allow for low light)
Day 2: 10 hours from 0900-1900
Day 3: 4 hours from 0800-1200
Prerequisites
At least one of the following must be met:
Active-Duty Law Enforcement Officer / Rangemaster
Designated by agency as a Firearms Instructor / Rangemaster.
NRA Certified Firearms Instructor
This is not an entry-level / end-user / transition course. Students must be proficient with the fundamentals of marksmanship to include proficiency with draws, reloads, malfunctions, and safe weapons handling. This class is fast paced.

Zeroing procedures
Overcoming PMO malfunctions and occlusions
Acceptable sight picture
Trigger management (prep and reset under recoil)
Single handed operations
Shooting while moving
Recoil management techniques
Low and no light with a PMO
Use of cover
Multiple target engagement techniques
Requirements
1500 rounds of pistol ammunition
Pistol with red dot mounted
Handheld or weapon-mounted flashlight
Holster and magazine pouches, Duty holsters are high encouraged
Minimum of (3) three magazines
Lunch, snacks, and water
Sunscreen
Hat, Inclement weather gear
